Befallen

I b fallen in Super Cloudbuilt.  It makes me anxious and it’s overstimulating on top of being cell-shaded which I have disliked since the days of JetSetRadio.   This one in particular has a lot of thought put into it and I’m not really giving it the due credit nor time it deserves.  I think some people might really like it.  I think I’m finding a trend of solo games as I explore these new ones.  I picked up my weapon and things started crawling on me so I may need to back of some of the settings a little. An…

Review: The Crew

This may be a bit delayed for some, but sales made this possible at all. I had no interest in it from the start. It didn’t look right and my gut told me no. My gut was right. It is a bad, bad game. It controls like ridge racer meets… a wall. Originally posted Aug 1st. It is now roughly a month and a week later and I’ve played it again. See bottom for updates! Point of note: I didn’t find the e-brake in my first run through. I was using the controller, tried X, B, and A is apparently…

The Division: Streaming to Twitch: Beta Review

Few screenshots, some 4k, some not. Two EVGA 980ti: 20 to 30fps @ 4k 70fps vsync @ 1080 NVidia doesn’t even have an optimized driver for this one yet. The city looks alive-ish, Multiplayer started out really cool — I had help from real people, we all ran into the fire together. Once I took the base, then I had to go looking for people for each mission. I didn’t discover this until later. They’ve got some reworking to do. You need people all over, fighting for both sides or it might get a little crowded. The cover system could…

Rise of the Tomb Raider et al

Ok, so QTE aside (it’s minimal) they really stepped up the tech.  It doesn’t quite look as smooth as it could, snow vs Assassins Creed III, as an example, but there were multiple times I was in awe.  It played less like an interactive movie, and more like a book I couldn’t put down.  It was all I could do to stop after the obligatory flash back sequence.  I can only hope it’s at least as long as the first one.  I purposely read very little about games now a days. Prior to that it was 3D Mark, a brief…

Benchmarking Rumble! The 780ti 3G vs the 980ti 6G — both EVGA Classifies, who will win???

Ok, so we know who will win card on card, but what about in SLI? The extra memory is going to make scaling possible, rendering at much higher resolutions (4k? 5k?) and then scaling down for the display resolution of the monitor. Since my monitor was one of the earlier 120hz ones, I’m stuck with 1920 x 1080 but the 2 780ti in SLI have been MORE than enough, except… in VRAM. I am only now feeling the pinch with the draw distance of GTA V being the first indication. I regularly get upwards of 100fps with games cranked, and…

Elder Scrolls Online in 2k

I recently pulled down some new settings in NVidia “Experience” it’s hokey but it’s easy and gives me an idea of what games should run at. It hasn’t not been MAX yet, but there will come a day, I’m sure. I am still running at 1920 x 1080 at least, though @ 120hz. I let go of my 2560 x 1600 for a smoother frame rate, that was limited to 60hz. So I came upon these settings today and had to try it out: Check out the comparison shots after the jump…

Review: Battlefield 4

I hit up the servers for a little test run before work today. I was able to hop right in thanks to the beta.  It was mostly the full game this time instead of the mess that was Battlefield 3.  They didn’t even save your settings between patches, let alone from the beta to the full.  My settings were all intact from playing a couple weeks ago.  That was a good time investment for that, let alone getting to know the Shanghai map. Here are some screenshots Good.   Bad.   Chopper texture guy… tsk tsk tsk.  I saw a…

Battlefield 3: Armored Kill Review

I guess I should add something here about close quarters as well I’ll have some screenshots and videos with descriptions and general information about the new packs Had to at least get a place holder up… Ok so it’s been a good week or so of good tank combat and I must say it is a good addition to the game. I play on a particular server with B2K and ARK, it is all flight maps and it is so great to have both packs maps in rotation. I have gotten

SLi – Double V

Originally drafted August 2006: If you’re not a geek you have not heard about SLi. Even if you are a geek you may not have heard about QuadSLi. BFG fit 2 graphics cards on 1 PCIEx interface, allowing those who don’t have SLi to get SLi performance, and those that do have SLi to get QuadSLi performance. In order to take advantage of the image quality these cards allow, you need a big frikken monitor, but you will be gaming like never before if you have the money. Quad SLi – Where it Stands **2012 05 02** So a note…

>nVidia PhysX Performance using Batman Arkham Asylum

>PhysX has been added to the PC version of Batman with the v1.1 update. It does not ship with PhysX settings out of the box. Once installed you are provided several options for PhysX – Off, Normal, or High with various card recommendations. The nVidia drivers allow you to change the PhysX settings – turning optimization on or off as well as the ability to choose which card handles the PhysX acceleration. I had thought offloading PhysX from my 2 x 285GTX2G cards working in SLi to the built-in 980a/780a would make things faster: However, after applying the v1.1 w/…

>Burnout Paradise for PC

>I just downloaded the largest demo ever: 2.9 gigs, and it turns out that’s because it also has the full game in it. When you go to install it you are presented with 2 buttons: Install Trial or Install Full Game, naturally I chose Install Full Game where it presented me with a spot to put in a registration code from EA. I didn’t have one but I did see that it’s $39 at the EA store so you can download the demo and turn it into the full game. I thought game companies did away with this sort of…

>New SLi Comparison

>I picked up another card to do SLi this weekend. I wanted more, I wanted 2560×1600. I priced out what it would cost me to get a 9800GX2 including the trade-in from EVGA and it was going to be like $350+, so I instead spent $170 for another 8800 GTS – which were getting scarce so I moved on it. I tested using 3D Mark Vantage (for VISTA) as my existing 3D Mark 2006 is not working in VISTAx64 because it says OpenAL32.dll is not present (which it is).I’d rather use 3DMark 06 as it’s a more accurate guage given…
